With Thanksgiving coming next week, I wanted to take this opportunity to share my thanks to all the parents and what they do for Lowrie, our children and the community as a whole. This is a time of year when I find it important to take the time to think about all that I am thankful for in my life. As I think about Lowrie, I am so thankful to be a part of this remarkable community. I know that the entire staff feels the same way.
Lowrie has a growing tradition of excellence and dedication to engaging each child. This does not simply happen by accident. It comes from the community, the students and most definitely the staff. I feel so fortunate to work amongst such an incredible staff. Each member of the staff is so thoughtful and passionate about fostering engaging learning environments for every child. This fall, we have been focusing on strategies to support all learners, doing a lot of work around assessment for learning, digging into standards and studying reading. The learning and explorations have been valuable and rewarding for all. It is yet another example of our on going commitment to our craft and to each child.
I am thankful for the outstanding children who we are fortunate to be with each day. The children come to school eager, ready to learn and with a deep sense of possibility. It is this curiosity that makes our work such a joy.
I am also thankful for the entire community. Every day there are examples of our community’s care and thoughtfulness for Lowrie. From snack donations to offers of support for children in need and from volunteering in classrooms to helping plan and organize community events, this community shines in it’s passion and care for children day in and day out. Your support and thoughtfulness is so appreciated! Thank you.
As we continue to rush headlong into the hectic pace of November and December, I think it is important to remind ourselves of our good fortune to be a part of this incredible community. I recently read an article about the power of gratitude. It defines gratitude as “affirming that there are good things in the world – gifts and benefits we’ve received – and recognizing that these sources of goodness come from outside ourselves.” When I think about all we have as a community and all the support we give each other every day, I am truly grateful. Thank you.
Take good care,
As a reminder, we ask that if you are coming into the school, to please park in the parking lot. The curbside is meant just for dropping off and picking up with drivers remaining at the wheel. I know that it can get busy, especially during dismissal, but our goal is to keep the curbside flowing as much as possible. Parents parking in the lot and not along the curb in order to meet their child will certainly help with this. Thank you for your help and understanding with this important safety issue.
