Dear Families,
Haven’t these days of sunshine been restorative?! I hope you have found time to get outside and enjoy this beautiful weather. These past weeks have caused me to think and marvel at the generous care and support of the Lowrie, Wilsonville and broader community. I am inspired by the love, care and support that is a constant in all we do together.
As always, I am so thankful to work within the Wilsonville community. The outpouring of care and support for the Catalan family in their time of loss has been truly remarkable. We live within a very interconnected and supportive community which has once again rallied together for a family. I think about all the children and how incredible it is for them to see and experience the love and support of a community. Simply amazing.
This week has been teacher and staff appreciation week. The kindness and generosity of the Lowrie community to all of us here at school has been wonderful. Yet another example of the kind of caring and thoughtful community we are so fortunate to be a part of each day. I hope you know how thankful and appreciative we are for all you do. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I am also thankful to the MAPS organization. This year MAPS has donated over $1,800 to Lowrie for our tile project and choir. Your generous support of this incredible organization is remarkable and Lowrie students are the direct benefits. Thank you to MAPS for their generous support!
The West Linn - Wilsonville Education Foundation is in the middle of their spring COUNT campaign. This is an excellent opportunity to donate to and support their goal of keeping class sizes at effective levels across the entire school district for the 2013-14 school year. You can get more information about this incredible group and make a donation at http://www.wlwvfoundation.org/about-foundation. Thank you.
On a related, but different topic, the district is working on finalizing their budget for the coming year. The district is looking for as many ways as possible to inform our community about this work. On Monday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Athey Creek Middle School the district will be holding a budget information meeting. The main purpose of this meeting is to share current information on the District's budget development process. The presentation will be about 1/2 hour long and we will have a time for questions and answers from the public. The meeting details are as follows:
Community Information Meeting
May 13, 2013 @ 6:30 p.m.
Athey Creek Middle School
Commons Area
2900 SW Borland Road
West Linn
There will also be budget information located on the district website as well. Attached to this newsletter you will find a document that outlines broad budget scenarios based on state funding revenue. This one page sheet is meant to give information about effective budget scenarios and to give a framework for how the budget will be formed. The bottom line is that there will be budget stability from the current budget into the coming year.
As we wind down our first year together, the examples of all we have accomplished together are endless. At the very heart of this journey has been community and our support of children. I cannot send my appreciations your way enough for all you have done with and for us this year!
With gratitude,
Patrick
